anglais I am sincerely fascinated by this film. Few people know the origins of barracks humor according to Jan Klecanda. Taken from a German-speaking environment, the genre commands unusual dialogue in a blend of Czech, German, and military slang that is irresistible within the intertitles. The humor and gags are once again very surprising, especially the method of revealing the dishonoring of the uniform, something I've never seen before. The trips to the local hangout and meeting the fairer sex are of course nice. Neither Anny nor Suzanne had many opportunities for their stars to sparkle in this purely male-dominated film, but the idea of them sharing an apartment together absolutely and inescapably entices me. It may not have been as erotically compulsive as the scenes of Anny and Bronislava Livia together in The Kidnapping of Fux the Banker (1923), but I would still be into it. ()
