After "fortress Europe" falls, Lucas sets off to find a better life. The problems and dilemmas of the enforced adventure are captured by a subjective camera which focuses on his perceptions, and the hyper-realistic compositions are interspersed with compelling black-and-white sequences. The unique form conveys the intense inner experience of a hypothetical European refugee. The "anthropological sci-fi" of documentary director Laurent Van Lancker is based on the current European refugee crisis and offers an exploratory vision of a possible near future. It was shot in real locations of a refugee camp in Calais and the terrifyingly dreamlike abandoned town of Doel in Belgium. (Febiofest)
