Before Danish director Torben Skjödt Jensen made his debut in 1990 with it's a blue world, he directed various videoclips and other short video productions. Focal point of it's a blue world is the controversial Danish artist Hans Henrik Lerfeldt. Lerfeldt is especially known for his erotic tableaux that he painted with photographic precision. But he was also a big jazz fan and kitsch collector who was fascinated by Berlin and nazi Germany. The film is less a portrait of the artist than an introduction to the artistic universe of the painter who died in 1989. Torben Skjödt Jensen has used different technical and stylistic means. For example, he combines video and film sequences and alternates documentary material with dramatised images of Lerfeldt's paintings. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
