Latzkovics Dénes, an engineer, is off to the country to do some work there and, on the train, falls in love with a girl whom he has never seen before. Being called up by the army, he stops his journey and becomes a conscript. On the front, he meets Áts János, an old friend. During a battle fought by armoured vehicles, he saves his friend's life by losing an arm. Some time later, he realizes that his love and János's fiancée is one and the same person, Judit. János is in an emotional crisis, his soul being the scene of an internal fight of the feeling of love and gratefulness. Eventually, the latter is the winner. He returns to the front line. Judit accepts János's self-sacrifice, choosing the invalid man, first becoming his assistant then his wife. (texte officiel du distributeur)
