Next to Tokyo's gleaming high-rises at the edge of the river hides the small settlement of Kasenjiki, which is inhabited by homeless people. But their humble lives in emergency shelters made from blue sails are getting in developers' way. Takeda-san and other wanderers without a roof over their heads have nowhere else to go. The film presents portraits of several homeless people who refuse to simply be written off and insist on their right to humane treatment. Depression afflicts this atypical Japanese community every day and some no longer have the strength to face the gruelling routine ... (One World)
