The American film Within These Walls tried to create a claustrophobic atmosphere by having a woman essentially locked in a house. She can't get out, her own mind is getting to her and... and then nothing. The viewer feels nothing from it, it doesn't have the right build-up, it doesn't have the right drive and the atmosphere soon fades away - it basically has no swing to wake you up.
