The Czech Highlands (Vysočina) is a small region where over a period of just under a century some of the greatest artists were born and raised – primarily poets, but also musicians and visual artists, such as Bohuslav Reynek, Jakub Deml, Jan Zrzavý, Antonín Slavíček, Bohuslav Martinů, Otokar Březina, Martin "Magor" Jirous, and even Gustav Mahler. Our wanderings through the genius loci that is the Czech Highlands are led by naturalist Václav Cílek, literary historian and author Jaroslav Med, poet and publicist Miloš Doležal, and landscape architect Markéta Veličková.
