A former rugby player, Max, struggles to find a life off the field while fighting to save his marriage to former actress Emily. Kingsley is a small time drug dealer desperately seeking a way off the street. While completing his community service for a misdemeanor, Kinsley meets Terence, a local thespian, who gives him the push he needs out of his dead end life and into a very different, creative world. George, a cab driver, and his wife Kathy dream of having kids, but a devastating road accident puts their hopes on hold even testing their otherwise strong marriage. Several plot lines running independently of each other that intersect at fateful moments seemingly by chance. How many times have we seen that? It started with 21 Grams and it continues through all the other imitations and big city romance films. Here, instead of the USA, it's London; instead of alternative dreamers and philosophers, there's Idris Elba and Gemma Arterton playing typical high society, and although these two would seem to dominate, in the end their story is the least fleshed out, and that's a shame, because they are more or less among the acting first class, or at least the broader top. It doesn't have bad moments, it has emotions and a few touching or at least suspenseful scenes, but unfortunately it is poor and uninteresting script-wise.

London is nicely captured here, and I quite liked that about the film. The characters aren't bad and Gemma is still fun to watch, even when she's trying to act. And she's actually good at it. Unfortunately, as a human drama, it didn't captivate me as much, and I rather enjoyed the camera work, which entertained me in this film. As a whole, it's more of an average film, but thanks to the camera work, it's a slight above-average.
