Ikuyo (Yukiko Todoroki) is the head geisha of Shizumoto, a geisha house that employs four other women. Entertaining men for money, each have developed their own unique survival tactics. But the geisha business has never been promising. Concerned about her future as a single woman, Ikuyo decides to put out an ad in the papers, agreeing to pay for the tuition of an unprivileged college student, if they in return decide to take care of her during her retirement. This indeed becomes the beginning of her ending. (Nikkatsu)
