Forty years' worth of other people's troubles makes a thousand cases solved as reward. Private eye Mary Reklev is now retired, but her successful career came at a cost of her own private life. Now Reklev finally has time for the most important case of all – herself. The Shadow's inventive execution fits the film's retrospective touch, in which staged scenes run parallel with Reklev's reminiscing.
