(Mars Distribution)

anglais So this piece simply got me - with its camera and atmosphere, which resonated in me for a long time. A very slow film with minimal dialogues, where the story speaks through images of a landscape scorched by the sun, details capturing sweat on human faces or emotions that emanate from the characters' eyes. My second encounter with Walter Salles after his famous "Central Station". That guy really knows what he's doing. Overall impression: 95%. A tragic film about the inability to break free from nonsensical traditions and blind obedience to the patriarch of one's family. ()

anglais An impressive story about family, revenge, sugar cane, a mermaid, a place where it never rains, love, and one kind little brother. On hot summer nights, long gaze into the ceiling is guaranteed, along with contemplation about life problems. ()

anglais The camerawork is definitely charming. The only problem is that the camera basically showed pictures of people’s lives in Brazil in the early 20th century and completely shoved away the story that tried to get to the surface ... but in vain. ()

anglais A visually striking film about family togetherness and a blood feud from exotic Brazil that dragged on a bit too long for my taste. The obvious emotional message just didn't come through for me. I can't help but feel that it was a bit too much like a soap opera... ()
