Jiří Barta's baladic film, Yuki Onna, is an adaptation of a tale from Japanese classical literary collection Kwaidan. The film uses various technologies including wax animation. As a small boy, deep in the mountains, Minokitchi witnesses a tragic event and is forced to take a vow of silence. Years later, as a happily married man, he breaks the vow and dreadful events unfold.
