A Liverpool aujourd'hui, un vieil homme meurt. En mettant de l'ordre dans ses papiers, sa petite-fille découvre son passé de militant anti-franquiste. Printemps 1936, un jeune anglais au chômage, quitte Liverpool pour se joindre à la lutte contre le fascisme, dans les premiers jours de la guerre civile d'Espagne. Il rejoint la section internationale d'une milice républicaine, sur le front en Aragon, et aux côtés de Bernard, Lawrence, Coogan et Blanca, il se battra contre les fascistes. (Diaphana Distribution)
