Résumés(1)

A collage of early films by the first female director presents her meditations over the film image and dense storytelling, shows her feminist viewpoints, the ability to make a points and her attempt at moving cinematic expression forward. In this sensitively edited portrait, we also hear the voice of Alice Guy.
The footage from Parisian Opera starts at the end. Alice Guy discusses meeting the Lumiére brothers, her enchantment with the cinematograph, and how she was allowed to make a film only if it wouldn’t interfere with her work as a typist for the Gaumont company.
