Gwansang

The Face Reader is set in the middle of 15th century in Joseon dynasty. Nae Kyung is the most talented face reader in the whole country. He can tell a lot about a person just looking at his face features, including his future and true character. He lives peacefully, secluded from society, together with his brother and son, until a beautiful concubine convinces him to work for her. Thanks to his abilities he gets to a special post at the palace and helps with hiring king's officials. However, things begin to stir as he finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy aimed against the king. Period films are a common and popular genre in South Korea, particularly in television.
