It's not a great film. It's quite dead in places and it's quite lengthy in parts despite its runtime, and yet it also manages to create the atmosphere you expect. Insecurity, fear, anger. In the end the filmmakers of Black Marigolds probably succeeded in what they wanted to convey, but the whole thing was average at best.
