A movie about the corruption in all levels of society. A baby is born from a supposed-to-be virgin woman, so a chain of hysteria about divine intervention in the birth takes place. (texte officiel du distributeur)

Yeah, there are intense scenes that give you chills, but it can also be off-putting. However, with its strangely dark bloody poetics and baroque grandiosity, the film didn't grab me. On the other hand, it has to be admitted that this is a film that you just don't see that often, and as an overall experience, it's unique. Still, Greenaway probably won't draw me in with this film.
