In Hassel - Privatspanarna we follow retired detective Roland Hassel, played by Lars-Erik Berenett, as he tries to solve the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme. Palme was a political figure for 30 years and was shot and killed in 1986 after leaving a movie theater. Hassel is a hard-boiled ex-police inspector who is having trouble adjusting to retired life. He teams up with some friends to investigate Palme's death as its 25th anniversary nears. Their plan is to recreate the events as realistically as the can. Director Måns Månsson uses Hassel to take a straightforward but analytical look at the events of 1986. Although a suspect was temporarily arrested and convicted, the conviction was later overturned on the grounds of insufficient evidence. To this day no one has been charged, the murderer remains a mystery. (Stockholm Film Festival)
