anglais It touches on many a burning topic for (not only) Italy (not only) in the eighties, but nothing comes of it in the end, nothing is discussed to the end, it goes nowhere. It would have worked better as the introductory episode to the series, but even so, it’s high quality enough as it is. Only in the end it is about nothing, however much it tries to be about almost everything. ()

anglais A typical example of a movie where a high percentage rating is given by only a small group of reviewers. This really isn't a movie that could break box office records and belongs to the category that I call noble artistic boredom. It has a very slow pace and no progression. If I compare this dull affair to Il Divo by Sorrentino, then the latter represents a directorial gem, an explosion of creativity and a case where the screenwriter forces you to think about what you've seen and, above all, doesn't bore you at all. The film may have a luxurious cast and a topic that calls for high praise, but its execution simply does not convince me. It wanders from nowhere to nowhere and you will forget about the film soon after. This is an hour and three-quarters of film contemplation that could have been shot much more dynamically and interestingly. Overall impression: 45%. ()

anglais What I have to appreciate in this movie - apart from the excellent performances of the actors and scenes with the elderly - is the fact that the director has chosen the form brilliantly and inserts scenes into the story that seem almost dreamlike, scenes of how everything could be, if... As a narrative element, it is very interesting and occasionally it pulls you out of boredom. ()
