(Chrysalis Films)

anglais I like biopics, and I think Monica Z was pretty good. Edda Magnason portrayed Monica Zetterlund very believably. I'm glad to have learned something about this excellent jazz singer, although perhaps the alcohol escapades certainly amounted to more than what the creators have lightly outlined here. Her life was by no means easy. Simply beauty, talent, and fame do not guarantee anyone that with such a more than pleasant set of attributes, they will inevitably be happy. Musically, I have nothing to fault the film for, and I found that jazz sung in Swedish definitely has its charm, and in Monica's performance, it is also extremely sophisticated. ()
