The story begins in a small town, where preparations are being made for the theater play The Treasure which tells the story of a local legend of a huge treasure hidden deep underground; many set off to find it, but none ever return. The performers include the two sisters Kathy and Barbra, as well as the musician Jake, Barbra´s boyfriend. The theme of the play appeals to the greedy lord of the chateau, Bořivoj. And somewhere underground, at the real treasure, sit its three guards - killing time thinking up various amusements, which does not please the Ruler of the Underworld. His patience runs out when the bored guards interfere with human fates - on a wager over the fate of the love between Jake and Barbra. A series of misunderstandings lead to a dangerous expedition of three treasure seekers - Barbra, Jake and lord Bořivoj. (Zlín Film Festival)

anglais A slightly better than normal (slightly) more modern day fairytale. It’s true that you often find yourself bemused by the decisions made by most of the characters here, but I was sincerely intrigued to find out how things were going to pan out. But my dislike of Budař’s acting increases with every movie or series he appears in. ()

anglais As it is the case with contemporary fairytales, this one doesn't offer a great story. But it's very sympathetically cast, and I think it's a great idea that it's set in the (pseudo) century of steam instead of the obligatory (pseudo) Middle Ages. So the set design is pleasantly steampunk-tinged, the costumes are unique in the fairytale genre, and it's a joy to watch it all. ()
