Winner of the Best Director Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE follows Ruby, a bright medical student who sets aside her dreams and suspends her career when her husband is incarcerated. As the committed couple stares into the hollow end of an eight-year prison sentence, Ruby must learn to live another life, one marked by shame and separation. anglais A well-made movie that simply felt like nothing to me. No, of course, there is one very dramatic romantic story here, where in this case, dramatic means without humor. Although it prompted for it, surprisingly, it is not as intense as it could be. The filmmaking quality didn't impress me in this case because of the story. ()

anglais It’s a disaster when they arrest your husband and sentence him to several years in prison. But I had no idea that it’s an even bigger disaster when you’re a black woman. The first half was about self-pity, but the second one showcased that people are selfish creatures. By the way, the second one was way more interesting. But overall, it was mediocre. ()
