A visual composition of San Francisco’s avant-garde scene, which experienced an enormous boom in the mid-1950s and from which sprang the beatniks. Footage found at a film lab is combined with animation to create stylised and everyday images with poetry whose refrains refer to sailing on the sea. The narration is a playful composition of sentences by sound artist Henry Jacobs, torn out of context and rearranged into a rhythmic montage.
The poetry is ready, jazz is the question of the moment. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
