Lebanon, Pa.

The Americans revel in their independent dramas about dysfunctional, sometimes crazy, and definitely not stereotypical families. This is exactly the kind of movie where one such nice family from Lebanon appears. And like proper Americans, they film it in a perfectly traditional way as fit for their independent dramas. On the one hand, it’s okay, on the other hand, it’s completely ordinary. You watch the movie and you think it’s okay, but a week later it blends in with a bunch of other movies being shoveled onto the same pile of independent American dramas. (07/04/2013)
