In a way, this is quite a fascinating remake and homage to the original The Affairs of Julie. Fifty years ago, The Affairs of Julie was a Lilo Pulver film with prominent cameos by Anny Ondra and Max Schmeling. Today, it's a reminder of the old days when love in a film was reflected in the lives of filmmakers. The protagonist is a mature woman working on a mountain romance script and deciding between two men... Up to now it would have been cheap as hell, but the moment the quotations of the original film's footage and dialogue come into play, it's a lot of fun. The ending is a loving tribute to the phenomenon of Lilo Pulver, who played herself here. (20/04/2011)
