After the success of the Kon-Tiki expedition, Heyerdahl set out on the Galapagos to support his ideas about the settlement of the islands by South Americans. The expedition confirmed that several voyages had taken place from pre-Columbian South America to the Galapagos. It also proved that permanent habitation was impossible – drinking water was only available during the rainy season. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
