At a retirement home, the film director and his staff learn about the story of uncle Balázs. As a young gypsy, he used to live in a gypsy community in the Bakony hills. Based on an aeroplane landing in the fields he builds a plane in his shed, and then tests it together with the vajda, the gypsy chief. The plane becomes widely known, Balázs is taken to the military academy and he becomes an officer. On the outbreak of the war he is drafted, while his fiancée is about to marry someone else. When Balázs returns, they once more find each other, but the village drives them away. The head of the retirement home shows uncle Balázs's last letter to the director, which is about loneliness and about the wonderful experience of flying. (MNFA)
