Victoria Grant, dans le Paris des années 1930, se trouve dans une situation désespérée. Dotée d’une voix de soprano, aucun impresario ne daigne pourtant s’intéresser à ses mélodies, jugées trop sérieuses. Elle rencontre Toddy, un vieil homosexuel lui-même sans le sou après avoir été renvoyé du bar gay dont il était la coqueluche. Il a alors l’idée de faire de Victoria une vedette en la transformant en Victor Grazinski, un comte polonais renié par sa famille en raison de son homosexualité et qui, pour chanter, se travestit lui-même en femme. Par ce stratagème, Victoria séduit le Tout-Paris ainsi que King Marchand, un gangster hétérosexuel étonné de se découvrir une attirance pour le jeune comte. (LaCinetek)
