Achim, a risk-taker and a big shot in his father-in-law's shipping company, and Willi, inventive, unemployed and possessing the knack of making something out of nothing, collide with each other in the Swiss Alps. The accident brings home the gulf that lies between their worlds. Sven, a peace-loving bank employee from the German North Sea island of Sylt, accommodates the two men in his holiday cabin and is the only one who – with the help of cheese and wine – can succeed in bringing about a truce between them. In an unfortunate coincidence in a happy moment, however, Sven departs from this world. Now Achim and Willi have a problem: What are they to do with the body? Before his death, Sven had told them about all manner of things: about his boss at the bank, and about a pile of illicit cash and the key to where it is kept. While Germany finds itself in World Cup fever, Achim and Willi travel with Sven's body from the Swiss Alps to the North Sea. On the island of Sylt, before he gets his requested burial at sea, the dead man will wave to his boss one final time. But there's a hitch with the plan: dirty money might not stink, but Sven does!
