Even though the film is almost two hours long, it doesn't bore; it just occasionally surprises with how almost theatrically powerful the performances are, but that can be easily endured with Greta Garbo and John Barrymore in the lead. They are indeed otherwise excellent, and even though the film is presented as a drama, it's a pleasant drama in which these actors charm.
