At first glance an unassuming film with a slower start, but it has an incredible ability to gradually captivate the viewer with a combination of European visuals and a Hollywood script, and it works with the interesting theme of an exceptional individual, in this case, an extremely talented child, who is confronted with restrictive surroundings, parental ambitions, and, not least, his loneliness and emotions. The script works with a suitable dose of sentiment, there is no shortage of hopeless platonic love, the death of a loved one, a reasonable amount of humor and absurd situations, and above all a happy ending. That's something we might accept with a certain distrust and a feeling of manipulation in the case of a high-budget studio comedy from the US, but for a small European film, we will give it a pass. That ending really was very positive, and I was a bit afraid that Vito's unattainable love would rush onto the stage, embrace him, and say that she would gladly wait for him those few years. Still, a very good film, and my overall impression is 85%. ()
