Two stories develop in parallel. One, the frame story is, recorded with an infra-camera, a series of „peeping Tom" scenes phosphorescent in green light. A young girl becomes the victim of a gentleman-like white slaver indulging in gospel quotes. In the other story, a shadow play, narrated like a peasant's Bible basing on extant apocrypha, a universal arch-myth of mankind is featured. It focuses on the biblical Joseph, who, raised in love and in free spirit, becomes exposed, humiliated and death-bound by falling victim to envy, jealousy and hatred. The two stories cross at last, and the film ends with the last verses and chords of Mozart's Requiem. (Budapest Film)
