You think this is pretty well animated and has a reasonably good plot? Then have a good look at the release date. That’s right, Polish amateur entomologist Starewicz was years before his time with this. Not just in terms of form, but also topic. Not even Czech kids bed-time animated shorts made using a similar stop-motion technique, perhaps eighty years later, don’t look much better than this. And here it is a victory of (fantastic) form over content. (16/01/2008)
