Woman from the Provinces

It’s the 1980s. Andzia is approaching 60. She leads a peaceful, relatively prosperous and happy life in a small town in the south of Poland. She lives with her second husband and takes care of her two adult children from her first marriage, all while taking joy in small everyday pleasures. We gradually become acquainted with Andzia’s past in reverse chronological order: from old age to infancy. Although Andzia is just a simple ‘provincial woman’ who steers clear of politics, her life is marked by dramatic episodes from Poland’s history. (Camerimage)
