Au printemps 2009, Michel Ciment et Philippe Pilard rendent visite à John Boorman qui les reçoit chez lui en Irlande. John Boorman évoque pour eux sa carrière, son enfance (ressuscitée dans Hope and Glory, 1987), ses débuts, quelques-uns de ses films : Point Blank (1967) et sa rencontre avec Lee Marvin, Marcello Mastroianni dans Leo the Last (1970), le mythique Excalibur (1981), etc. Et aussi The Tiger's Tail (2006), avec Brendan Gleeson, où Boorman anticipe la crise financière qui a, depuis, frappé l'Irlande ! Le Festival La Rochelle a rendu hommage à John Boorman en 1978. (Festival International du Film de La Rochelle)
