In Monte Carlo, Balla Győző falls in love with Lili, daughter of Kende, a banker. Back home, Győző has a fiancée, Matyika, the daughter of Gida Sándor, which does not make things easier for him. Director General Dr. Balla Tamás, Győző's uncle, known as the "iron man" is opposed to the idea of this marriage. Győző, who is in fact secretly in love with Lili, makes no effort to have his own way. Matyika, on the other hand, seems adamant to fight the iron man's plans.
