After developing a crippling fear of blood, hotshot London surgeon Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes) is forced to retrain as a GP and relocate to the charming seaside village of Portwenn. Dour, discourteous, and dismissive, he immediately clashes with Portwenn's quirky villagers. Doc Martin catches the eye of the most beautiful woman in Portwenn (Caroline Catz), tests the patience of his long-suffering aunt (Stephanie Cole), and repeatedly hurts feelings as he heals bodies. Haemophobia (2004) (S01E06)

anglais The creators got a little carried away this time with their enthusiasm for the main character, I could accept the operation in an ambulance, but at full speed? Come on, they could have let it stop for a while. Otherwise, the doctor entertained me as usual, his unempathetic approach to patients really amuses me, and the evaluation of the kiss was reeking of brilliance. That really pleases me. ()

Season 2 (2005) (S02)

anglais I'm giving the second season four stars in the end, even though I had a number of issues concerning each episode. The biggest problem was that the creators forgot about humor at times, and the plot was getting boring in places. I don't know what went wrong. Some episodes were good quality. I even enjoyed moments when humor was downplayed in favor of drama, I only had a problem with the episodes that had nothing to offer. ()

Old Dogs (2005) (S02E01)

anglais The doctor was just as accommodating in the first episode of the second series as he was in the first season, and I was pleased with his new assistant/secretary/receptionist played by Katherine Parkinson. The ordinary life of ordinary people in an ordinary English town reliably entertained me, as usual. ()

In Loco (2005) (S02E02)

anglais This time, I enjoyed it from the opening credits and it lasted until the final ones. The Doctor immediately got into excellent shape from the start, and his overall nice and empathetic personality won me over completely. Considering that I have a similar or even worse relationship with most people, I couldn't help but like the episode. ()

Blood is Thicker (2005) (S02E03)

anglais In the third episode of the second season, I missed a bit of humor. The creators built the whole episode on a more serious foundation, and I think that's a shame because I mainly watch the series because I enjoy its humor. Granted, I found a few funny moments, but I have become accustomed to a more cheerful approach. ()

Aromatherapy (2005) (S02E04)

anglais The fourth episode of the second season was one of those where I couldn't laugh that much because the doctor kept too close to the wall and unintentionally didn't insult all the patients as I was used to with him. However, I enjoyed the confusion between alcoholism and diabetes, I know someone who experienced the same thing firsthand (and some internal organs as well). ()

Always on My Mind (2005) (S02E05)

anglais Similarly to the previous episode, I missed a larger amount of humor, but this time there was a stronger story. I also have to appreciate that there was more space for Katherine Parkinson, who is excellent in the series just like in IT Crowd. Nevertheless, I had a good time and the new teacher contributed to that as well. ()

The Family Way (2005) (S02E06)

anglais From the series Doc Martin, I expect primarily dry humor. Although it was only presented in limited doses in the sixth episode, it was sufficiently compensated by a dramatic story that added depth to the titular character and explained many things. A very solid plot for a relaxing series. ()

Out of the Woods (2005) (S02E07)

anglais I rated the seventh episode with three stars, but it was close to being only two. The episode started quite well and for a moment, I thought I would have a good time. Then, the humor suddenly disappeared, there was a trip into the wilderness, and I alternated between being bored and being annoyed by the illogical behavior of the characters. ()

Erotomania (2005) (S02E08)

anglais I enjoyed the eighth episode much better than the previous one, which bored me a lot, and I was considering giving it four stars. However, the romantic storyline prevailed, in which things that have already been discussed many times were rehashed, and just when I firmly decided to rate it with 3*+, the doctor's final rhetorical performance came and once again I ended up giving it four stars. ()

On the Edge (2005) (S02E09)

anglais For the entire double episode, I decided to give four stars because the whole thing didn't bore me and I especially enjoyed the second part, but I was terribly annoyed by the illogical behavior of all the characters throughout the attack or kidnapping, or whatever it was. Only Richard Ayoade is missing and IT Crowd is complete. 4*. ()

Season 3 (2007) (S03)

anglais Season 3 was surprisingly great. I'm saying 'surprisingly' because I expected a gradual decline in quality, especially concerning the humor and the writing. I was wrong, the creators handled the humor very well, and added tension and quality drama to some episodes as a bonus, so I was mostly having a great time. ()

The Morning After (2007) (S03E02)

anglais The second episode of the third season was funny in the first place, so there was no risk of boredom. The doctor, Pauline, and her substitute amused me, and once again my suspicion was confirmed that dishwashers are dangerous to life. Once again, I could chuckle at romantic moments with the doctor; that person knows how to end a conversation. ()

Love Thy Neighbor (2007) (S03E03)

anglais In the third episode, I had a rather good time, the doctor couldn't really be faulted this time, in this case he handled the collision with the idiots excellently, knowing myself, I wouldn't have been able to keep my nerves in check when meeting an "alternative" family. If I counted correctly, Luisa was insulted no more than three times, so I'm starting to worry if the doctor will somehow lose it. ()

The GP Always Rings Twice (2007) (S03E04)

anglais The theme of the fourth episode was excellent and Aunt Joan, who has always been a strong pillar for Martin to lean on in case of emergency, entertained like never before. It's strange, but even though she is not my relative, just like the doctor, I can't get the picture out of my head. Unfortunately. And as if that wasn't enough, Martin once again showed that he can announce a tragic event with an unprecedented empathy. ()

Breaking Up is Hard to Do (2007) (S03E05)

anglais I had a great time during the fifth episode of the third season. The Doctor once again had enough space to show himself not only as a doctor but also as a romantic. While he embodies professionalism as a doctor (except for the blood), he is a complete amateur in the role of a romantic hero and it always triggers an association in my head that involves a lot of porcelain and thick-skinned individuals. ()

The Two of Us (2007) (S03E06)

anglais The creators grafted a classic detective story from the English countryside onto the sixth episode, and surprisingly, it worked well for me. Although I had strong concerns about the Doctor's behavior when it comes to romance, Martin fortunately didn't lose control, so he didn't disappoint me, and four stars to him! :-) ()

In Sickness and in Health (2007) (S03E07)

anglais The final episode of the third season succeeded for the creators, I would even add a fifth star without hesitation, but most situations lacked the element of surprise, they were strongly predictable. The Doctor was given enough space to showcase the full power of his amazing personality, the whole episode was funny, and so I couldn't help but enjoy it. ()

Season 4 (2009) (S04)

anglais Even though I consider Season 4 the weakest one so far, I'm giving it four stars. I guess it’s because of my slightly sentimental approach to the series, which means I probably overrated some of the episodes. Oh well. Anyway, for the sake of the series, I hope the next season will be worth it. 4*-. ()

Better the Devil (2009) (S04E01)

anglais The fourth season offered me the first episode and with it a modified dubbing that made me grind my teeth and almost influenced my rating. I let it sit for a while, I decided that it's not the fault of the British creators and because of the interesting plot development and the fact that I was entertained the whole time, I ended up giving it a thumbs up.
