From today's point of view, the film features a budding Kidman in Hollywood and she's Kidman still in a supporting role in Australia. It’s too bad Noah Taylor and Thandie Newton's story is completely unwatchable. It was 1965 and they were both young and longing for each other, if only because she was black and he was an outsider... As a wooden Barbie, Kidman could then have stood out better in the few superficial moments that were left for her. But that didn't happen either.
