Hanta travaille dans une cave à Prague. Chaque jour, depuis 35 ans, il presse du papier. Il n'est cependant pas très efficace car il ne peut s'empêcher de s'intéresser aux ouvrages qu'il détruit. Il met notamment beaucoup de soin à "faire un nid" au milieu des ballots de papier pressé pour ce qu'il considère comme des chefs d'œuvre. Malheureusement pour lui, Hanta est rattrapé par "une ère nouvelle" où il n'a plus sa place face à la productivité. (Accatone Distribution)

anglais Over the years we seem to have gotten used to the fact that movies based on Bohumil Hrabal’s stories are full of absurd humor, but also of melancholic sadness. Well and when I found out that Hrabal’s world and old-school French actors came together in one movie, I said to myself that it could not be as bad as people here make it look. However, the fact is that I resisted for a long time. But once I gave in and played the movie, I have to admit that the reviewers here were right. The movie lacks ironic detachement and humor. All it radiates is sadness and depression. And the worst thing is that it lacks in atmosphere as well, which is probably caused by the non-so-good dubbing of the French actors and the moments in the pub which, I don’t know why, don’t seem to look like they were shot at a dive pub somewhere in the Prague borough of Libeň, where Hrabal lived in the 70’s. ()

anglais The co-production of the theme did not help. Personally, I appreciate only the small roles of some of the Czech actors, led by the gypsy trio of Dejdar, Blanarovičová, and Kuklová. I also liked the charming whore Hrubešová and the ribbony Morávková. And that’s it. I would have loved to see Gabriela Wilhelmová as the innkeeper, but it didn't happen. ()
