Five pensioners drinking beer in the railway restaurant decide to play a joke on their absent companion, the pharmacist Kerekes. They order him to appear on the county police headquarters "concerning a certain case". Kerekes almost gets a heart attack: now he is revealed. He recalls his past: at the end of the war he only gave his friend, the city commander Holl "if". This word sent his predecessor, the Jewish pharmacist and his wife into death. His companions try to calm him down in vain, the senile old man demands juridical investigation against himself. (texte officiel du distributeur)
