Joshua Rodes perd sa famille dans un tragique attentat terroriste a Paris. Fou de douleur, il décide de venger froidement leur mort. Pour échapper a la justice il rejoint la Légion étrangère puis s'engage comme mercenaire au service des Serbes. Devenu Guy, il s'enfonce dans l'horreur de la guerre. Après un échange de prisonniers, il prend la défense de Vera, une Serbe violée par un Musulman, qui se retrouve enceinte. Guy va l'aider a accoucher et protéger la mère et l'enfant. Mais Vera repousse sa petite fille tandis que Guy s'attache progressivement a elle. (texte officiel du distributeur)

The story only lightly touches on the French Foreign Legion. Savior is about the destructive influence of war on the human character, depicting it as a continuous series of stress, violence, despair, and hatred that transforms human nature and turns ordinary people into ruins and criminals. A professional soldier, whose family perished in a terrorist attack, yearns for revenge and throws himself into further war adventures. At one point, he has had enough and tries to do the right thing. Although the film does not avoid certain clichés and its ending particularly reeks of Hollywood, it is a strong emotional drama with an anti-war nature. Moreover, it is very well-acted and carries the stamp of authenticity of the Balkan wars. Overall impression: 80%.
