Dénes inherits his distant relatives' country cottage, where as a child he used to stay many times. In the hundred-year-old, dilapidated house ancestral sin descended from father to children. The coffin maker, father of six children, burnt down his workshop in order to elope with his lover, an actress, on the insurance money. The fire spread to the house and one of the children burnt in it. The father hanged himself several years later. Zoli, the eldest son, left the country. Mókica committed suicide as a young girl, Sárika carried some illness she had caught in the house. Beside her compulsive scrubbing of floors and making sponge cakes, Valika was busy with raising Déneske. Nothing but the angel-like image of the five children in a photograph is left to remind of the doomed family. (DunaTV)
