The Invention of the Other

In the Javari Valley region on the borders of Brazil, Peru and Colombia, one of the most extensive areas still inhabited by indigenous tribes, external influences and the effects of human action present a far greater danger than the perils of the Amazon rainforest. The lives of the population are threatened by logging, poaching, smuggling, kidnappings and violent conflicts, not only among the original inhabitants. The documentary follows the humanitarian workers’ risky search operation in the depths of the Amazon, which aims to ensure a stable future existence for the indigenous people. (One World)
