The unwilling Edna is betrothed by her father to the fortune-hunting Count de Ha Ha. Charlie finds a note that Edna has dropped, begging to be saved, and impersonates the Count. He is well received until the real Count appears. After some struggle with the Father and the Count, Edna and Charlie escape and flee in the jitney auto (jitney is a nickname for a car, like flivver or jalopy). A circuitous race follows which terminates in Charlie's car backing that of their pursuers off a jetty into the water. Becoming aware of the audience the couple postpone their kiss until the fade out. (texte officiel du distributeur)
