The Basics of Love

Liz and Lefty drive a garbage truck for Fresno, California’s city sanitation department. Lefty’s a native of Fresno, while Liz has only lived there for a few years. It’s New Year’s Eve, and the two are on the last leg of their trash route before they’re off for the holiday, when they decide to stop into a convenience store for a quick bite to eat. While inside the store, everything changes for the two city workers as they accidentally walk into a robbery in progress. Liz and Lefty survive the encounter, and while they’re shaken up by the event something else is happening; new and unknown feelings inside each of them is surfacing. (Nashville Film Festival)
