Apu emménage avec sa famille à Bénarès, une ville du Bengale. Son père est prêtre et gagne sa vie en lisant des textes sacrés sur les marches du Gange, où il trouve accidentellement la mort. Satyajit Ray continues successfully in his trilogy with the second part, which is once again a beautiful demonstration of how this creator is able to capture India, but above all the human stories that take place on its territory. This is truly a strong aspect, both in terms of how the stories are written and how the individual scenes are conceived. Ray had a talent for proper editing and scene length.
