anglais I still don't know if heaven exists even after 93 minutes of Pialat's film. But I have no doubt that hell exists. I felt it every minute I spent with this creation, and I deeply, truly deeply, regret it. For Gérard Depardieu from the time when he was still in shape and basically at the peak of his creative career, Sandrine Bonnaire at an age when one understands why she became a favorite of French directors, I give one star. The rest of it speaks a different language that I partly understand, but those parts annoy me even more than the rest. In one scene, Sandrine says to Gérard that they have nothing to say to each other. The same applies to the movie and to me. Overall impression: 20%. ()

anglais Gérard’s journey toward God was almost theatrical in this movie. He could’ve spared us some of that hand flailing in the middle of the field and whooping. Otherwise, I don’t think that there was anything essential, except for the fact that after watching the movie, I went into a state of depression, or even catalepsy. ()
