Ali G pourrait se contenter de sa paisible vie à Staines, une petite ville située au sud de l'Angleterre. Auprès de lui, il a sa grand-mère, sa copine Julie, son chien 2Pac et son herbe. Avec ses amis, il parvient même à supporter les provocations du gang rival au cours d'interminables courses de R5.
Cependant, Ali G voit ses habitudes bousculées le jour où il apprend que le centre de loisirs de Staines, où il enseigne aux enfants "l'attitude Ali G", est en passe de fermer. Celui-ci proteste et accepte finalement de représenter les jeunes de Staines dans l'arène politique. En mettant à jour un scandale qui décrédibilise son adversaire, Ali G est bientôt élu député...

Sasha Cohen is absolutely perfect as the wannabe rapper Ali G. But only in short sketches and mystification bogus interviews with celebrities. Not in feature-length format where the few excellent gags are hidden in a pile of unfunny humor and satire that isn’t satirical. It’s terrible to see him wrecking all the work he did on carefully forming this alter ego. Cohen (and Ali G too) can do much better. And those couple of flawless gags do nothing to change that.

Someone will say that it's nonsense, but in this movie you can see that Sacha Baron Cohen is not just some idiot who messes around, but his jokes make sense. Yes, of course, it's sometimes crazy, but you will still have the feeling that he's trying to tell you something. Even though he appears in the movie as the biggest fool, in the end, he is not the biggest jerk. Some scenes are entertaining all the time.
