When a big star collapses at the end of its life, a black hole forms in its place. This was first described by a scientist of Indian descent, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar’s discovery of black holes was originally rejected by the scientific community in England in the 1930s. Then, his work was ridiculed by scientific authorities in order to maintain the merit of their own previous findings. Chandrasekhar moved to the USA where he continued to work in various scientific fields. The short animated film shows that being a scientist should not be only about great discoveries but also about leaving behind materials to help the next generation make great discoveries. anglais An intriguing animated documentary about a scientist of Indian origin who, while studying at Cambridge University in England, got into an argument with then eminent astrophysicist Arthur Eddington over his discovery of black holes. Who knows what more Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar might have accomplished had it not been for this event which profoundly influenced his future scientific career. Not to mention the fact that in 1983 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to understanding the physical processes involved in the formation and evolution of stars. (70%) ()
