This understated social-anthropological experiment explores the fragile world of female expats settled in Luxor, Egypt, and captures their everyday petty conflicts. With their surroundings, local habits, each other, but above all with themselves. But their relentless gossiping also reveals generally important issues, such as cultural appropriation or the forced importation of one’s own ideas into another environment. (Elbe Dock)
